Harvey Wayne Pedro, 73, of Clayton, was sadly taken away from us on August 6th, 2018. Harvey was born in Bloomington to the late Cleo Edgar and Mary Lucille (nee Altop) Pedro.
Harvey attended Bloomington South High School. After high school, he enlisted into the US Navy. He was aboard the U.S.S. Kearsarge (CC 33) during the Vietnam war in the early 60s. He was a graduate from Indiana University.
On January 27, 1967, Harvey married his surviving wife, Wanda Lee (nee Southworth) Pedro. The newlyweds lived in various places before settling down in Clayton, In. They have lived and become a part of the community for the past 40 years.
Harvey worked for different departments of the state of Indiana for 29 years, the majority of which was was for the Plainfield Correctional Facility. Harvey and family was involved with “Hendricks Co. Toys for
Kids” for 19 years; this truly made him happy. He loved to dress as Santa and brighten a child’s
Christmas, to see them believe in some magic was a great gift for himself.
He was known for being a family man, always pulling a prank on people and his love of sports. He was a well loved man, a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an uncle, a papa, and a friend.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Wanda; son, Kevin Pedro; daughters, LaDonna Pedro-Miller, and Ashley Passwater; his brothers, Bill, Jerry (Karen), and Ernie Pedro; his sister, Lynda Porter. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Harvey is proceeded in death by his parents Cleo and Mary Pedro; and siblings, Phyllis Alexander, Jack Pedro, Patricia McDonald, and Buddy Pedro.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Monday, August 13th at Clayton Christian Church, 5110 S. State Road 39, Clayton, IN 46118. Harvey will be laid to rest the following day at 10:30 a.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens, 310 N. Johnson Avenue, Bloomington, IN 47404.
